Gavin Thurston visited raffles international school yesterday where he came to give a personal hour and a half to talk to our 6 media students. He talked to us a bit about his life, how he started and what it is exactly he does, he also showed us some his work (mostly advertising) where he broke them down on why he choose certain camera techniques.

As he talked about his dedication he heavily referenced back to how it was when he first started and how quality has improved incredibly with a reduced size where he would usually store the footage he got into a small usb rather than celluloid which was bigger any heavy. This also didn't allow him to review the footage right away to see if he needed another take or not which definitely helped reduce workload and speed to which it took for him to do his job.

Eventually we pitched our film ideas where we got feedback on and suggestions on such as ways to low budget e.g he said were things such as using a towel and a phone to slide across a table to give the camera and scene for a more continues shot. Lastly the other technique was to use our phones (as its easily available to the whole group) and use the flashlight on there and reduce it for what we want and use that instead in order to be able to light the scene properly.
